About Westone

Westone 60 Years Timeline

The Westone Team

It’s been over half a century since Ron and Mickey Morgan made their first earpiece on the kitchen table in the family home high in the Colorado Rockies. A lot has changed since then.

Yet, some things haven’t really changed at all. Sure, we can now make custom earpieces “digitally” using our FIT additive manufacturing process, but we still make thousands of earpieces each week using our tried and true traditional methods. We also have new and growing businesses in music products, military communications and hearing protection products.

But even with all the new, our foundation and focus here at Westone has not changed: Providing you, the hearing healthcare professional, with the best value in custom earpieces and clinical supplies. If you need help with an order, have a question about a patient fitting, or would like to discuss how to grow your practice through some of our music or hearing protection products, we’re always here and eager to talk.

Over fifty years ago, we decided that “The Golden Rule” was the only way to do business. That hasn’t changed a bit. We still follow this simple guiding principle and strive to “do the right thing” in all of our actions. We’re here to be of service and exceed your expectations. We’ll do our very best to take care of you and your patients.

That’s how it’s always been, and that’s how we plan to keep it.

Serving the Military

Above are examples of damaging noise levels encountered in military environments. Since 1977, the Veterans Benefits Administration has received claims on nearly 400,000 hearing loss disability cases totaling $7 billon. Your service in the military can present your hearing system with noise levels that require hearing protection to avoid joining the ranks of those who have suffered hearing loss disability as a result of their service. Serving in the military and exposure to loud noise go hand-in-hand. What you might not know is just how damaging that noise can be. Prolonged exposure to noise over 90 decibels (dB) can result in permanent, irreparable hearing loss. A one-time exposure - no matter how brief - to 120 dB or more can do the same. Just once, and your hearing could be seriously damaged.

Leave your ears unprotected and the day may come when you won't hear your grandchildren, when watching television or listening to music is a chore, or when you have trouble understanding your friends and family.

Unfortunately, protecting your hearing is not as easy as you think. Generic foam earplugs can be uncomfortable and must be inserted perfectly - “every time” - to provide the advertised level of protection. Traditional muff-style headsets are hot, bulky and often impractical. Other earplugs can come loose during activity. And if you have to communicate effectively while still blocking harmful noise, ordinary earplugs simply won't work. The fact is, there is only one way to protect your hearing effectively and comfortably -- custom-fit earpieces from Westone.
