Earpiece Guide

Our “ear opener” earpieces keep collapsing ear canals open. Sometimes the tissue of an aging or surgical ear canal becomes very soft and flaccid, to the point of losing its definition and collapsing.

When this happens, the canal can become occluded, causing a conductive hearing loss. This can be corrected by opening the ear canal using a stent made from acrylic material. “Ear opener” earpieces are available in style numbers 2, 3, 3 Inverted, 4, 5, 6, 6 Thick, 8 and 8 thick.

At last count, Westone has made over 10 million earpieces. Even so, we approach each earpiece as if it is the most important one we have ever made. While hearing care is indeed a science, making a great earpiece is still an art. No one has yet come up with an acceptable substitute for the sensitivity of the human hand, the experience of the human mind, or the judgment of the human eye.

Style No. 13	Left and Right Indicators Left and right indicators can be added to just about any Westone earpiece. A blue dot indicates the left side and a red dot indicates the right side. Laser engraving of an “L” in blue for left and an “R” in red for right is available upon request.

Today at Westone, we’re making custom-fit earpieces with computercontrolled scanning hardware so precise that it scans up to 100,000 points on a single ear impression. Using state of the art three-dimensional software, the virtual earpiece is then modeled by our skilled technicians. The computer interfaces directly with sophisticated additive manufacturing equipment to build the earpiece, layer by layer.

The result is a custom-fit earpiece made with a precision and accuracy unlike any other method.
