Request: A firefighter had been caught in a chemical fire, suffering severe burns to much of his body. He survived, but among his permanent injuries, he lost his vision and most of his fingers.

He also suffered from mild hyperacusis. The care facility where he lived was in a noisy part of a large city. Between the regular commotion of the facility and the noise of the streets outside his window, he yearned for some peace and quiet. His loss of touch and sight, however, made standard custom earplugs a difficult option. Westone was asked to help.

Duett with neckloop

Small, lightweight and ergonomically designed, this wireless communication/listening device features large control buttons for easy use. Comfort Duett amplifies conversation up to 60 dB and can be used with the standard headphones and earphones, or purchased with an induction neckloop for use with hearing instruments.



With an easy flip of a switch, the Duett goes from being an acoustic amplifier to an induction receiver, able to pick up the signals from a loop system.


The innovative base unit serves as an overnight charger and as an interface to the TV, hi-fi and telephone (optional accessory kits required). When used with earphones, the Duett is very discreet and resembles a stylish music player.
